Charles Kenny, MDAfter more than 25 years of private practice of orthopaedic surgery in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, Charles Kenny, M.D., "The KneeMD," now focuses on the non-surgical aspects of orthopaedics. His emphasis is on patient education. He seeks to understand personal preferences, lifestyle, and medical issues, and to apply these to create an optimal interface with the complex realm of 21st Century orthopaedic diagnosis and treatment. When surgery is unavoidable, or a major consideration, Dr. Kenny teaches how to ask the right questions of your busy orthopaedic surgeon, so you will have realistic expectations about surgery, and so you can make the best choices about your care. Dr. Kenny believes your care should not be unnecessarily limited by geography, so he will help expedite referrals to the most appropriate major medical centers, for diagnosis and treatment including surgery, and coordinate follow-up care as indicated.

Dr. Kenny trained in orthopaedic surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He received an A.B. from Cornell University, an M.D. from the New York Medical College, and did preliminary general surgical training with the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation. He has been certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and by the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, and a Member of the Massachusetts Medical Society. Dr. Kenny is licensed to practice medicine and surgery in Massachusetts and New York.

Dr. Kenny has published original research in major orthopaedic and surgical scientific journals. He has been awarded United States Patents for inventions in the fields of orthopaedic surgery and traumatology. He is currently studying new approaches to flexibility and injury prevention, as well as non-surgical alternatives to orthopaedic surgery. He practices in Berkshire County, Massachusetts.
